Last night Karl and I took the boys to see a movie and on the way home we stopped at the grocery store to pick up some things. I had 2 errands to do in the store, the first was deposit money at the credit union (in the store) and the second was drop off a prescription to get filled. Both errands took longer than I wanted them to, and much longer than the boys wanted. Kaleb and Von were being very hyper, and their hyperness was accelerated by the 2 boys who were rolling and throwing balls down the aisle we were on.
I hadn't really planned out this shopping trip, so I didn't have my coupons already figured out. By the time we had picked out the diapers and corresponding coupons I was getting really flustered. It was then that Kaleb decided he needed to use the restroom. Karl took him and I was left with Von and Eddie. Our next stop in the store was the refridgerated section where I picked out butter and was in the process of pricing cinnamon rolls when I heard a cry/scream. I turned around to see our shopping cart on it's side, on top of Von. Another woman got there as I was starting to lift it up and helped me. Eddie had been suspended in place by his seat belt, so no real injuries there. Von was another story. He was crying hard and cradling his left arm. I looked at his arm and it looked ok from the top, but there was a small bump on the bottom side. I told him to open and close his hand, which he did, though somewhat reluctantly. By this time he was whimpering, but not crying, so I figured it probably wasn't bad.
The woman asked me if I needed help and I told her I would just go get my husband at the front of the store, which I did. Once I had told him what had happened we went back to finish our shopping. We picked up milk, and bread, then went to get treats out of the bulk candy section. Usually Von likes to choose a treat, but he wasn't interested at all, so I started to get worried.
We split up then, me to pick up stuff at the pharmacy and Karl to pay for everything else. I mentioned what had happened to the pharmacist and he suggested letting the manager know what happened, so I went to customer service and spent 5 minutes filling out an incident report. Finally we headed home.
Once we got home I tried to figure out how bad his wrist was. It was starting to swell up, but he had stopped crying. I talked to my mom, who suggested I try rotating his wrist. I stopped at the cry of pain and instantly agreed with my mom who suggested I take him to the doctor.
Luckily the instacare was open and we went in and were seen pretty quickly. At one point while we were waiting I tried to get Von's mind off the pain by asking him if he wanted a drink. He said he wanted juice and chicken nuggets. So after the x-rays, and the splint and sling we headed back to the car. As soon as the splint was on I saw an immediate change in Von. I could tell he was feeling better, and he wanted to walk out instead of be carried. On the way home we stopped and picked him up some chicken nuggets and juice.
He is doing pretty good now. I thought Motrin would be enough for the pain last night, so I didn't fill the prescription the doctor gave me (he had said I might not need to). He didn't sleep very good last night though, so today I went and picked it up. Judging on how quickly he fell asleep, hopefully he'll sleep better tonight than he did last night.
Tomorrow we have to call our pediatrition and go get a cast put on. They don't do a cast right away because of swelling.
I think the hardest part for him so far is that he can't play Wii games that require 2 hands because the sling won't let him hold the remote with his left hand.
One hidden blessing is that we've already hit our out of pocket maximum for Von this year, so hopefully the instacare co-pay is all we'll have to pay. :)

I'm glad he's feeling better, but that's still pretty scary. It's lucky that Eddie didn't get hurt, either.
