Miracles DO Happen!

I have been really worried about my grades this semester. Actually just about one of them. I was relatively sure that my Saturday class would be an A, but I didn't have any idea about my Abnormal Psychology class. I have averaged 75% on the tests, I did the 2 homework assignments and did extra credit, (which meant I went to some AA meetings with my upstairs neighbor). I studied a lot harder for the final than I did on any of the tests and after I finished I was pretty sure I had failed it. I found out today that I got an 81%.
I was really worried that I might not get a C-, and then I would have to retake it so it would count for my major. I got an e-mail from my teacher today and I have an A. At first I was so stunned that I couldn't even breathe. I am sooooooo relieved!
I'm pretty sure that what happened was that the teacher graded on a curve and thats why my grade ended up so good.

Flowers

Here are some flowers Karl gave me a week or so ago. I love it when he surprises me like that.

Little Things Make Me Happy

Today I was reminded of one of those little things that makes me happy. Friday afternoons at 5:00 my radio station plays a song called "Finally Friday". I was listening at the right time, and got to hear it. It made me happy.

Finals

Last night I took my last final, and Karl took his last final, so this semester is over!! It was kind of funny though. His final was in the testing center and he had a 3 hour time limit, so he figured he would take about 3 hours. I dropped him off at the testing center at about 4:45. The plan was that I would go take my final and then go back to the testing center to wait for him. (The testing center is next to the free parking lot, which is the farthest from the main part of campus, it is far enough that there is a free shuttle that goes between the bookstore entrance to the school and the free parking lot). I went to my class and took my final, it started at 5:30 and I finished at about 6:15. Here's where we messed up.
After I finished my final I walked along the downstairs hallway to the bathroom, then up the stairs at the south end of the hall, out the door and to the van. I wasn't expecting Karl to be ready to be picked up until about 8:00, so I went to Wendys and then drove to the testing center parking lot and read Harry Potter while I was waiting.
Karl showed up at about 7:45- looking a litte windblown. Apparently he finished his test at about 6:05. He walked all the way to the school and found the van. Since the van was there I went to wait outside my classroom. Unfortunately, he walked along the upstairs hallway and went down the stairs at the north end of the hallway. So we barely missed each other. He waited outside my classroom until my teacher left at about 7:30. He clecked the classroom and I wasn't there. That was when he gave up and walked back to the testing center parking lot, where he found me.
I think it is funny that we missed each other by such a small amount of time. Sometimes it would be nice to have cell phones, but not enough to pay tons each month for them.
I know that was really long, but I hope you enjoyed reading it.

T-Shirt

This afternoon we went out to dinner with Karl's family to celebrate his birthday. While we were there I thought I noticed some people at the next table looking over at us, but didn't really think anything of it then. A little while later a man came over to me and said, "I have to ask you something, what does your shirt say?" I told him, "I make milk, what's your superpower". He said, "Mine is invisibility".
I thought it was funny, and so did the women he was with. It would have been interesting to be in on their conversation.

Minivan

I have a minivan, but sometimes I feel funny having it instead of a smaller car (since I only have 2 kids). But today I used my van to it's full potential. First I loaded 2 bedframes and 8 bags of clothes into it. When I got home from delivering those I noticed some tree branches that my neighbor cut off one of our trees. They have been sitting on the grass for a week, so I decided to take them to the compost yard.
BTW, the compost yard is a place that anyone can take any yard waste. They use it to make compost, and then people can buy the compost at very cheap rates. I think this is a marvelous idea. The only thing better would be having a garbage can that is only for yard waste that could be picked up each week.
Anyway, when I decided to load the back of the van I didn't realize how many branches there were. Luckily they compacted rather well and I made most of them fit (a few ends of branches were sticking out the edges of the back door).
The drive to the yard was successful, except that my boys didn't like getting their heads scratched by branches. There was one main flaw with my plan, which I didn't completely realize until I had emptied the branches. The entire floor of my van was coated in little green/yellow buds. So I vacumned the van when I got home. Next time I'll use the tarp I usually keep in the car for such occasions (that I haven't used yet).

Cool License Plate

Today I saw some fun things on License Plates.
The first said: KTY KTY
The other two were actually License Plate frames.

They said:
I see it, I like it,
I want it, I buy it.

And:
Stay Back
I cheated at the DMV

Some other fun ones I've seen are:
Faster than a speeding ticket

Always late, but worth the wait (this was actually on my friend's truck)

If you can read this, you're too close.

What I got from Conference

I really enjoyed conference this year (like I always do). Although I had class on Saturday I still got to listen to the sustainings. I thought it was really cool to have each group sustain separately.
Each conference something hits me as something I really need to apply in my life. For example, March 31 of 2001, It seemed like every single talk was about the church needing more sister missionaries. That really helped me make the decision to go on a mission.
This year what hit me was that I need to do what I can, and then accept that I can't do everything, and I especially can't do everything perfectly. I know this is something extremely logical that I should have decided on my own, but Heavenly Father knows I need a jump start on things like that.

Brain Teaser

Hopefully you'll find this one easier:

A man is crowned king. Shortly afterwords, he is captured by enemy forces. Why?
