Cowboy Rules

Cowboy rules for: Arizona, Texas, Colorado, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Idaho, Nevada and the rest of the Wild West are as follows:

1. Pull your pants up. You look like an idiot.

2. Turn your cap right, your head ain't crooked.

3. Let's get this straight: it's called a 'gravel road.' I drive a pickup truck because I want to. No matter how slow you drive, you're gonna get dust on your Lexus. Drive it or get out of the way.

4. They are cattle.. That's why they smell like cattle. They smell like money to us. Get over it. Don't like it? I-10, I-40, I-70 and I-80 go east and west, I-17, I-15, I-25 and I-35 goes north and south. Pick one and go.

5. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. We have $250,000 Combines(Columbines?) that are driven only 3 weeks a year.

6. Every person in the Wild West waves. It's called being friendly. Try to understand the concept...

7.. If that cell phone rings while a bunch of
geese/pheasants/ducks/doves are comin' in during the hunts, we WILL shoot it outa your hand. You better hope you don't have it up to your ear at the time.

8. Yeah.. We eat trout, salmon, deer and elk. You really want sushi and caviar? It's available at the corner bait shop.

9. The 'Opener' refers to the first day of deer season. It's a religious holiday held the closest Saturday to the first of November.

10. We open doors for women. That's applied to all women, regardless of age.

11. No, there's no 'vegetarian special' on the menu. Order steak, or you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the 2 pounds of ham and turkey.

12. When we fill out a table, there are three main dishes: meats, vegetables, and breads. We use three spices: salt, pepper, and ketchup! Oh, yeah . . We don't care what you folks in Cincinnati call that stuff you eat IT AIN'T REAL CHILI!!

13. You bring 'Coke' into my house, it better be brown, wet and served over ice. You bring 'Mary Jane' into my house, she better be cute, know how to shoot, drive a truck, and have long hair.

14.. College and High School Football is as important here as the Giants, the Yankees, the Mets, the Lakers and the Knicks, and a dang site more fun to watch.

15. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards - it spooks the fish..

16. Turn down that blasted car stereo! That thumpity-thump ain't music, anyway. We don't want to hear it anymore than we want to see your boxers! Refer back to #1!


Number 4 makes me think of my Grandpa. He would smell cattle and say "MMMMM, Smells like money."

Von didn't eat dinner last night, but he's eating dried cherries, Cranberries and Blueberries right now.

Does anyone else think it's great that Facebook tells you when it's someone's birthday so you can post a Happy Birthday on their Wall and it looks like you actually kept track of it yourself?

Mail

Do you remember when you were a kid and getting something in the mail was awesome? I was always jealous of my parents because they got stuff EVERY day, and I only got something about 2 times a year.
When I was a teenager I had a pen-pal and I loved it. Partially because I had a friend to share things with, and partially because I got mail from her on a somewhat regular basis. It was great!
In college I lived for mail, mostly because it was from my missionaries.
When I went on my mission I hoped for SOMETHING to me for me when we would get home from a long day of work.
Now I'm a parent, and I get mail pretty much everyday. I understand now why my parents didn't get excited by the mail. Most of it is from people who want money from me.
It's still exciting though. I still love hearing the sound of the mailbox closing, or seeing the mailman walk up my sidewalk. And while most of the mail is junk, or bills, occasionally I get lucky and get something from someone who loves me, and it makes my day!

Living Room

So about a year ago Karl and I bought our house. When we were decorating the living room we decided that I would make curtains for it. After deliberation, and buying a great rug, we chose fabric and bought it. About that time I started being tired all the time from my pregnancy, and I had to move in to the house and get everything unpacked... So in December Karl brought up making the curtains again. I told him there was no way I'd get them done in 2009, maybe next year it would happen.
Then on Christmas Adam I went to my friend's house and made them. The curtains were Karl's surprise gift this last Christmas. This week I finally got them up and took pictures. Doesn't my living room look nice? I think it almost looks like a living room that could be in a magazine, maybe.

New Year's Resolutions

Here are my goals for the year. They are separated into things I want to do every day, every week and every month. This way I start over on a regular basis. Karl and I have also decided to reduce our tv watching, and are turning off our tv service to help us with it. Karl and I also have a goal to reduce our debt by a specific amount.

Prince Family Letter 2009

The Prince Family 2009
This has been a busy year for the Prince family. Of course EVERY year is busy, but this one seemed more so than normal.

We started the year by buying a house in Provo, Utah.
It is a wonderful house and we’ve enjoyed making it our home.

In February we were broken in as home owners when our sewer line needed replaced. Luckily the company we bought the home from took care of it for us.
Carrie finally agreed to owning a game system, so we bought a Wii, that all of us have enjoyed playing all year.
And we celebrated Von’s 2nd birthday with a Snowman cake.

In March we had the boys pictures taken.
Von learned how to turn all the books in the bookcase on their sides.
And Carrie was called to be the Secretary in our Ward Relief Society.

In April we had lots of fun with puzzles, and celebrated Karl’s 29th birthday.

In May Karl earned his degree. He now has a Master of Business Administration, with an emphasis in Accounting. He is working at AES Systems as their Chief of Finance.
He also learned how to run a heavy duty roto-tiller and broke up the weeds in the backyard.

In June we had a couple traffic jams (of the matchbox car variety),
and train wrecks (gotta love GeoTrax).

In July Karl started putting together our patio in the backyard (with Carrie’s Dad’s help).

In August Karl put up our gazebo,
and finished the patio, (with Carrie’s brother’s help).
We also went on a trip to San Diego (that Karl won from KBULL 93) and met Toby Keith,
saw the San Diego Temple,
went to Lego Land,
and saw the beach.
We also celebrated our 6th Anniversary.

In September the boys got to have a “campout” in the Living Room,

In October we celebrated Kaleb’s 5th birthday with a car cake,
went on a “hay ride” to pick pumpkins,
and dressed up as Lightning McQueen’s Pit Crew and Super Why.

In November Kaleb got glasses and we put a swing-set and sod in the backyard.
Carrie’s tummy completed its growth,
And we welcomed Klarence Edward Prince into our family
(born 11/20/2009, 10 lbs 2 oz, 21 inches).

In December we had Eddie’s baby blessing,
Carrie got a 4.0 in her classes for the semester,
sent Carrie’s parents on their mission to Mesa Arizona,
And we celebrated Christmas.

It has been a great year for us,
we hope it was for you as well.
