When is the last time you looked at your shower curtain? Take a minute and check it. If it is not the same color throughout (and used to be), then it is time to change it. A new shower curtain can be as little as $2. Well worth it in my opinion.
I bought a new shower curtain yesterday and it is really cute. Because of the close proximity of our toilet to our shower, we can only have a water-proof shower curtain, not one of the pretty fabric ones. Our last shower curtain was plain plastic. Our new one is plain plastic with white polka dots. Very cute.

I alos learned from my mother that if you are very poor you can put the curtain in the washing machine and hang it back up to dry. We did that for a few years.

The liner can be like $2. The trick is then to go to the fabric store and buy some fabric and make a curtain. I'm not sure why you have to have waterproof because of the toilet proximaty - maybe that has something to do with little ones. Anyway, we had a homemade fabric curtain and a liner in our old pink bathroom in Wisconsin and loved it. Then yes, you can just was the curtain and replace the liner as needed.
